Why Do You Lose Hair

Bald man with glasses in Black and WhiteYou lose up to 100 hairs from your scalp every day. That’s normal, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men — and some women — lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, or poor nutrition. Treatment for hair loss depends on the cause. In some cases, treating the underlying cause will correct the problem. Other treatments include medicines and hair restoration.

 How Does Hair Loss Develop

Hair loss usually develops gradually and may be patchy or all over (diffuse). You lose roughly 100 hairs from your head every day. The average scalp contains about 100,000 hairs.

Both men and women tend to lose hair thickness and amount as they age. Baldness is not usually caused by a disease. It is related to aging, heredity, and changes in the hormome, testosterone. Inherited or “pattern baldness” affects many more men than women. About one-half of men begin to bald by the time they are 30 years old, and most are either bald or have a balding pattern by age 60.

A Story About A Haircut Of A Little Girl

Mia Crouch is a 9-year-old girl with a big heart and little less hair then she had a few weeks ago. Mia had been growing her hair out for close to three years with one mission in mind. She wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces for children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

“I was doing jump rope for heart at school but I didn’t raise that much money,” said Mia. “I wanted to do more to help people so I decided to cut my hair for Locks of Love.”

Mia had close to 11 inches of hair cut and then donated to Locks of Love. It takes a minimum of ten inches of hair to make a hair piece for a child. Some people questioned Mia about why she would want to give up her beautiful long hair. For Mia the decision was simple.

Possible Causes of Male Balding

No one likes male pattern balding, especially males who have it or who are at risk for having it in the future. Fortunately for men in the future, and to the doubtless envy of men in the past, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have made strides in discovering the main causeof male pattern baldness. Or one of the main causes, at least.

The study involved examining the scalps of 20 bald men, poking around up there and seeing what was going on. The important discovery that could prove to put an end to the embarrassing condition is that the protein PGD2 is three times more prevalent in the skin under bald spots than it was in the skin under hair spots. Further investigation showed that an increases in PGD2 precedes thinning, establishing this as a cause and effect relationship; PGD2 inhibits hair growth.

Alot of men start balding in their early twenties. So you may think it doesn’t affect you but in actuality it can.

A Possible “Powerful” Solution To Solve Balding

“The Power Cut” is the hot, young look that everyone from executives to athletes have been sporting.

Now, men who are bald or suffer from hair loss can sport it too.

This new look is made possible with a scalp tattoo called Scalp MicroPigmentation.

McGrady Charles, a young business man of Miami, has tiny dots that looked like fake stubble tattoo’d onto his head, matching a 5 o’clock shadow look.

“For me, from before to after, it’s a huge difference,” said Charles.  “You can see a hair line now. It’s much better.”

4 Ways To Solve Baldness

- Scar-less Hair Transplants How it works: “Men, particularly younger men, are often nervous about having a hair transplant because they don’t want a scar in the back of their heads in case they ever want to wear it short,”

- Cell Therapy How it works: Called platelet rich plasma (PRP), the technique is just starting to be used for hair restoration even though it has been used for years in cardiology and plastic surgeries.

- Laser Light Therapy How it works: “Laser light encourages the protein synthesis needed for hair regeneration, and also stimulates blood flow to the area for better growth,” says Dr. Halaas.

OTC Drugs Such as Propecia How it works: “Propecia can prevent hair loss, and has the added bonus of helping to keep prostate size down and preventing cancer,” says Dr. Halaas. “Men can start taking it at a young age and can be on it fairly long-term.

Bald men have a lower worth than men with good hair, it’s a fact. People look down on men without hair, that’s a FACT, whether or not it’s conscious of subconscious. Women don’t find men with baldness as attractive.
